The Student Leadership Component
On any of the student trips, you may choose to add the Student Leadership Component. This component blends in well with all overall programs in all the countries we visit and enriches the activities, excursions and experiences students have. Students will personally grow and be empowered on these educational journeys while experiencing and learning about magnificent countries, their history and their intriguing cultures. One of the main goals of these trips is to support youngsters in developing a deeper understanding of the world around them and assist them in practicing that knowledge to enhance their ability to serve as competent leaders in making the world a better place – both in their communities and around the world.
Leadership Component
“Effective Leadership is Your Future” With this focus, students will explore who they are as a leader in all aspects of their life, and who they see themselves being in the future. Effective leadership components and qualities will be taught and experienced. Examples of some of the content areas include:
personal mission and goal setting
self awareness
emotional intelligence contributing to leadership
leadership skills
problem solving
interpersonal communications
global leadership
social contracts
ethics and integrity
understanding values and conflicts between cultures
modeling the way
leading with heart
dealing with barriers
Personal Vision Project
During the trip students will write and begin to compile a "Life Journal", a book with supportive documentation such as photographs and art-work that will have three main chapters: 1.Current reality – Current strengths, competencies, and areas that need improvement. Also, significant aspects of the past that contribute to the present reality will be included. This will come from self reflection, insights, and from input from others during the trip.
·2.Future Vision – Personal vision for the future in all aspects of life such as family, friends, community, career, world issues
·3.Development Plan – Identify the relevant gaps betweenthe “Current Reality” and the “Future Vision” and create a development plan including steps and activities to get from “now” to the “future”.
Creativity will be highly encouraged with this project. This is not just an academic effort, it is a practical guide and commitment to creating a powerful future for the participants and the people around them. This unfolds a unique opportunity to take a stand on creating a life and future that is extraordinary, magnificent, and satisfying.

Service Projects
If you are interested in including a service project as part of the students' experience, there are numerous opportunities available in all countries. Many of them require a fairly long time commitment and some require special skills on the part of the participants. It is paramount that we involve the students in projects that have a positive impact and are meaningful to both the receiver and the provider. If possible, we recommend projects that involve students long before the actual trip itself. One possibility is to create a connection with a sister school where the students are traveling to so that relationships can be established before the visit. Exchange of information among students usually proves to be one of the highlights of the trip. We are always interested in providing the type of service projects that come from the heart and are genuine and caring.
